The King Alfred School is a Sports College in Highbridge, Somerset, catering for young people aged between 11 and 18 years old.
"We are very proud to be a Sports College because it enables the school to promote learning across the curriculum. We believe that learning in Physical Education and in all other curriculum subjects, improves the quality of teaching and learning. This can only benefit us by raising achievements and providing opportunities for our students to become successful."
Our sporting aim is to provide a broad, balanced programme of activities which will enable pupils to continue with an active, healthy life style. Activities taught include gymnastics, dance, athletics, badminton, basketball, tennis and volleyball, as well as the more traditional games such as hockey, football, netball, rugby and cricket.
The school has excellent on-site facilities including an astro-turf pitch, tennis courts and fully equipped sports hall with squash courts and a fitness room.
Last week (27th June - 1st July) was the 2011 National School Sport Week. There were many activities and events happening across the Partnership, and a few of these are mentioned below.
