Sports Leadership Pathway Grades Assessment Criteria

Grade 1 - Yellow

  • I can follow simple instructions.
  • I can give instructions
  • I can work sensibly with a partner.
  • I can volunteer to help with setting out and removal of equipment.

Grade 2 - Orange

  • I can work sensibly in a small group.
  • I can take some responsibility in a small group.
  • I can see when something is becoming unsafe
  • I can help others with their work

Grade 3 - White

  • I am able to explain my ideas to a team
  • I can help other students to improve.
  • I can play fairly and encourage honesty and fairness in others
  • I can guide a partner through a simple warm up and cool down

Grade 4 - Green

  • I can lead warm ups and cool downs in groups.
  • I can organise a sports team.
  • I can lead others in a short practice or sequence
  • I can help referee/officiate.

Grade 5 - Blue

  • I can referee/officiate/judge small sided games, competition or performance
  • I can coach team/ performers during game play/performance
  • I can plan and lead skill practices/routines.
  • I can negotiate

Grade 6 - Purple

  • I can be flexible in the roles I adopt in response to situations as they arise
  • I can officiate a full sided game or performance
  • I can plan/choreograph a safe activity and deliver to younger students.
  • I can be a role model to younger students or leaders.

 Grade 7 - Red 

  • I can provide leadership support to others through mentoring
  • I can support G&T and/or multi skills sport sessions
  • I lead activities during my own time eg, after school, Primary, Community clubs  
  • I can be part of a group which plans and delivers an event or Festival

Grade 8 (Outstanding)

  • I can lead after school or community practices with peers
  • I can organise a sports event/festival
  • I am actively involved in the running and organisation of a club or team
  • I am working towards or have completed a nationally recognised award or qualification in leadership, coaching or officiating.
