Sedgemoor Primary Schools Swimming Gala

Burnham-on-Sea Swim & Sports Academy & Sedgemoor & Mendip School Sports Alliance hosted the second annual Sedgemoor Primary Schools Swimming Gala on Weds the 6th April from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Five schools qualified to battled it out over 41 races to determine who would become victorious and claim the prestigious title of the Sedgemoor Primary Schools Swimming Champions for 2011.

Over 125 children swam for their schools in-front of a huge gallery of friends & family whose cheers & support could be heard throughout the building & beyond!  It was the first time West Huntspill Primary School & Churchfield CofE VC Primary School from Highbridge had raced in these championships, both teams put on an excellent showing and found themselves in a closely fought battle right to the very end to determine who was going to claim the title of “Best New comers” to these championships…… Churchfields finally won the challenge!.

East Huntspill School showing their experience from last year, claimed the title of the South Sedgemoor Primary School Swimming Championships and were 3rd in the Sedgemoor championships.  For much of the gala, Berrow Church of England Primary School were neck and neck with last years’ winners St Andrew's Church of England Junior School school from Burnham-on-Sea, however St Andrews were not going to give up their title easily and showed consistency in depth and slowly pulled away to claim the championships for a second year in a row.

FINAL RESULTS:

1st:  St Andrew's Church of England Junior School

2nd:  Berrow Church of England Primary School

3rd:  East Huntspill School

4th:  Churchfield CofE VC Primary School
